Our amazing staff is both talented and motivated. Many staff members were elite or competitive collegiate gymnasts who have since produced state, regional and national champions.

Steve Butcher was selected by the International Gymnastics Federation to judge the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China. It will be his first experience as an Olympic judge. Only two USA men's judges will comprise the fifty men's judges worldwide for the 2008 Olympic Games.
Steve is a member of the USA Gymnastics Board of Directors/Executive Committee, Men’s Program Committee, Junior Olympic Program Committee and Age Group Competition Committee. Steve was a USA Junior National Team coach from 1991-2004 and was the junior coach of 1996 Olympian John Macready. He spent nearly ten years as the gymnastics program director of the Mission Valley/Toby Wells YMCA in San Diego, California, where he produced several USA Junior National Team members, international elite competitors and a large number of NCAA gymnasts. As the current president of the men’s technical committee for the Pan American Gymnastics Union, he oversees competitions between the countries of North, South and Central America. Steve has been an international judge since 1989 and has participated in international competitions as a coach or judge on every continent of the world. He presently serves as the international vice president of the National Gymnastics Judges Association (NGJA).
Steve has spent a large amount of time over the years as a cross training coach for the United States Downhill and Aerial Ski teams and USA Track and Field team. He has worked with skiers such as Bode Miller and Darren Rhalves. The majority of his cross training has been with pole vaulters, such as Toby Stevenson (silver medalist 2004 Olympic Games in Athens), Stacy Dragila (gold medalist 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney) and several other Olympic and world team competitors.
Steve prides himself on the fact that he loves working with every level of gymnastics, boys or girls. He has coached Junior Olympic men, Junior Olympic women, high school girls’ teams, elite men, college men, classes, preschool and cheerleaders. Steve is married to Kathy Fitzgerald, a former gymnast from American Twisters Gymnastics in Florida.
